Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
