Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen playing web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
